No ready solution for getting rid of Belarus-Russia roaming charges

MOSCOW, 13 June (BelTA) – The relevant ministries of Belarus and Russia continue working to get rid of roaming charges. No ready solutions are available yet, BelTA learned from State Secretary of the Union State of Belarus and Russia Grigory Rapota after the session of the Council of Ministers of the Union State of Belarus and Russia on 13 June.

“The ministries in charge of overseeing this branch of the trade in each country are vigorously working on the problem of roaming charges but the matter is not as simple as it seems. There is a natural contradiction between vendors, who want to sell their products for as much money as possible, and consumers, who want to pay as less as possible. The state is in between these interests and is supposed to regulate these processes,” noted Grigory Rapota.

In his words, these interests are now being closely looked at. The sides are working to find out how the interests can be balanced and what solutions can be offered. “So the ministries are working on it. There are no ready solutions yet,” concluded Grigory Rapota.
