SAINT PETERSBURG, 16 June (BelTA) – Belarusian drivers will not have to obtain Russian driver's licenses in order to work in Russia. Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov made the statement after the session of the Council of Ministers of the Union State of Belarus and Russia on 16 June, BelTA has learned.
Andrei Kobyakov said that the decision had been made to recognize national driver's licenses as valid inside the Belarus-Russia Union.
A law came into force in Russia on 1 June to prohibit professional drivers with foreign driver's licenses from working in the country. The document was also applicable to Belarusians, who had obtained their licenses in Belarus and worked as drivers in Russian companies.
