No comment on border posts at Belarusian-Russian border during 2018 FIFA World Cup

MINSK, 20 October (BelTA) – The State Border Committee of Belarus has no comment to make in response to the statement made by Russian First Deputy Interior Minister Alexander Gorovoi about possible border posts at the Belarusian-Russian border, BelTA has learned.

The official spokesman of the State Border Committee of Belarus Anton Bychkovsky said that the Committee's press service will not comment on the statement.

On 20 October mass media reported news that Russia is ready to set up temporary border posts at the Belarusian-Russian border for the duration of the 2018 world football championship. Russian First Deputy Interior Minister Alexander Gorovoi was the one to mention the plans. “If we don't unify migration laws and do not switch to a universal migration card by March, the Russian Federation government has made preliminary decisions in favor of setting up temporary border posts on motorways and railways without stopping passenger trains,” Alexander Gorovoi said at a session of the upper chamber of the Russian parliament.
