New Belarusian books donated to Francysk Skaryna gymnasium in Vilnius

MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) – New Belarusian books were donated to Vilnius Francysk Skaryna gymnasium, BelTA learned from the Information Ministry of Belarus.

A Belarusian delegation headed by Belarus' Deputy Information Minister Alexander Karlyukevich is attending the 18th edition of Vilnius Book Fair. Having presented Belarus' stand, the delegation visited Vilnius Francysk Skaryna gymnasium to donate six sets of the newest Belarusian books, with 127 books in each set. The gymnasium students performed a concert for the Belarusian guests.

The Belarusian-language gymnasium was opened in Vilnius on 4 January 1919. It is one of the first Belarusian secondary schools in Lithuania, and the only educational institution providing full secondary education in the Belarusian language there. 2014 saw the opening of a pre-primary class in the gymnasium.

At the 18th International Vilnius Book Fair, Belarus presented the best 2016 samples of Belarusian bookprinting, published by the Belarusian state publishing houses (Belarus, Belarusian Petrus Brouka Encyclopedia, Mastatskaya Litaratura, Vysheishaya shkola, Narodnaya Asveta, Zviazda, Belarusian Science, and others). The Belarusian stand also features the editions dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the Belarusian book printing. In Vilnius the Belarusian bookprinting industry is presented by the Belkniga bookselling company and Mir Castle Complex museum.
