Myasnikovich calls for maintaining social standards in Belarus

MINSK, 30 May (BelTA) – The achieved level of social standards in Belarus should be maintained by all means, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich said in an interview with the Belarus 1 TV channel on 29 May, BelTA has learned.

“The achieved level of social standards should be maintained by all means. Meanwhile, the provision of paid services will be developing. There is a certain level of services guaranteed by the state, and if someone opts for a private doctor, it is his choice,” Mikhail Myasnikovich noted.

The official emphasized that excessive social care generates social dependency. “And this dependency comes out in ugly forms. Some start to think that the state owes them something. The well-being of a person and his family depends first of all on this person,” Mikhail Myasnikovich pointed out.

He believes that the state should primarily provide care to socially vulnerable people and create favorable working conditions for citizens.
