MINSK, 16 March (BelTA) – Free Wi-Fi service will be launched at 19 railway stations of major Belarusian cities. The Belarusian mobile carrier Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) is implementing the project together with Belarusian Railways, BelTA has learned from the mobile operator's press service.
Wi-Fi hotspots will be set up in lobbies and waiting areas by summer 2017 at the railway stations of Minsk, Orsha, Molodechno, Borisov, Baranovichi, Lida, Grodno, Zhlobin, Kalinkovichi, Mogilev, Osipovichi, Bobruisk, Krichev, Vitebsk and Polotsk. MTS will provide high-speed network connection by means of 4G and optical channels.
Free Wi-Fi will be available to subscribers of all mobile carriers after a short verification procedure: a customer should enter his mobile number in a special field and receive an SMS with a password. “This is the easiest way of identification for the customers of the railway stations, Belarusian Railways and MTS that provides internet access,” the press service noted.
