More Italians take advantage of Belarus' visa-free program

MINSK, 21 November (BelTA) – More Italians began visiting Belarus since the country introduced its visa-free rules, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Belarus Mario Giorgio Stefano Baldi said at a meeting with Belarus' Sport and Tourism Minister Sergei Kovalchuk, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Sport and Tourism Ministry.

The parties discussed possible measures to strengthen interaction in sport and tourism, and also cooperation prospects. The Italian ambassador praised the initiative of the Belarusian authorities to increase visa-free stay in the country up to 30 days. The undertaken measures have already contributed to a bigger number of Italians coming to Belarus. They find here the opportunity to enjoy nature, tranquility, and escape from stress, said Mario Giorgio Stefano Baldi.

In his opinion, the tourist potential of Belarus has not yet been disclosed in full. The diplomat promised to help increase the flow of Italian visitors to Belarus.

In turn, Sergei Kovalchuk noted that Italy's experience in tourist services and enhancing their quality would be useful for Belarusian specialists.

The parties also discussed the forthcoming 2nd European Games. Italy is expected to deploy a big delegation, about 100 athletes, coaches and officials. Sergei Kovalchuk promised all possible assistance to the Italian side.

The ambassador also shared his impressions of the international bike festival and the Minsk Half Marathon. He expressed admiration of how many modern sport facilities are there in Belarus and how Belarusians are eager to go in for sports.
