Mogilev, Batumi establish friendly relations

MOGILEV, 8 September (BelTA) – Mogilev and Georgia's Batumi have signed an agreement on the establishment of friendly relations, BelTA learned from Mogilev Mayor Vladimir Tsumarev.

The document was signed during the official visit of the Mogilev Oblast delegation led by Mogilev Oblast Governor Vladimir Domanevsky to the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, Georgia on 2-6 September. “We have reached an agreement with Batumi Mayor Giorgi Ermakov to expand cooperation in all fields. The first step now will be drawing up a plan of action for 2018 and drafting specific projects to be carried out in the future,” Vladimir Tsumarev said.

Following the Mogilev-Batumi business forum, Mogilev Regional Development Agency and Adjara's Finance and Economy Ministry signed a cooperation agreement, and the Bakaleya Mogilev food company and Adjarian Wine House entered into a supply contract.

The Gorki-based Belarusian State Agricultural Academy and Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University sealed a deal on cooperation in education.

Mogilev Oblast and Adjara initiated official cooperation in September 2016 as a relevant memorandum was signed during the third session of the intergovernmental Belarusian-Georgian commission on economic cooperation in Tbilisi. The regions continued interaction in other dimensions. For instance, a number of documents were signed between Gorki District and Khashuri Municipality, Bobruisk and Kobuleti, Bobruisk and Batumi, and also between Chambers of Commerce and Trade of Mogilev and Adjara.
