MINSK, 16 May (BelTA) – Two major regional internet forums will be held in Minsk in October 2017, director of hoster.by Sergei Povalishev said during the Belarus Internet Governance Forum (IGF), BelTA has learned.

A forum of Eurasia Network Operators Group (ENOG) due in Minsk on 10-11 October will discuss regional development of the internet. The event is organized by the RIPE Network Coordination Center. Around the same time Minsk will play host to the East European DNS Forum organized by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). “The host side will make every effort to hold the events at the highest level,” Sergei Povalishev noted.

The IGF Belarus is primarily designed to hold a constructive dialogue on the matters of the development of the internet between all the parties concerned. It looks beyond one-off discussions. The forum's organizing committee plans to set up working groups that will bring forward proposals on the development of the internet as a result of the IGF.

This is the second time IGF Belarus is held in Minsk. The participants of the forum discuss such topics as electronic government, personal data protection, internet safety, infrastructure of open data in Belarus, and regional issues of the development of the internet.

The forum is organized by the technical administrator of Belarus' domain extensions .BY and .БЕЛ hoster.by, the Operational and Analytical Center under the President of Belarus, the non-profit law enforcement organization Human Constanta. The event is powered by ICANN and RIPE NCC.
