Minsk to host City and Books festival

MINSK, 18 May (BelTA) – Over 100 events will make part of the City and Books festival which is to take place in a park near the main building of the Belarusian National Technical University in Minsk on 18-19 May, BelTA learned from the organizers.

The festival will feature children's, youth, expert, and readings platforms, master classes and literature games. The official opening of the festival is scheduled for 18 May at 13.00 in the park near the Belarusian National Technical University.

The festival will offer a variety of themes: Minsk; science; comics and fantasy; professions in literature; children.

The program will include meetings with contemporary writers from Russia and Sweden Natalia Volkova, Nina Dashevskaya, Dmitry Pobedinsky, Jujja Wieslander, and tactile book specialist from Finland Irmeli Holstein.

The festival will also feature a hand-made exhibition and a library of the best children's and teenager books of 2018 (according to experts).

The City and Books festival has developed into a popular meeting venue for book amateurs of different age and popular Belarusian and foreign writers. For the time being the festival hosted more than 250 book and literature events which were visited by more than 16,000 people.

The festival is organized by the scientific library of the Belarusian National Technical University, ZaChtenie project and the Belarusian Library Association. Over 150 book lovers volunteer in the organization of the festival.
