Minsk, St. Petersburg to choose urban housing design concept in autumn

MINSK, 22 August (BelTA) - St. Petersburg and Minsk will choose the urban housing design concept of new residential areas in the two cities in the autumn, Pavel Luchinovich, chairman of the committee of town-planning architecture of the Minsk City Hall, told a press conference, BelTA has learned.

St. Petersburg and Minsk have announced a competition for the urban housing design concept of new residential areas in the two cities. The urban housing construction project was discussed a few years. The agreement between the parties was reached following the visit of a St. Petersburg delegation to the Belarusian capital. The competition site in Minsk is along Semashko Street, near Minsk Clinical Hospital No. 9. In St. Petersburg it is the area of quarters 24-27 in the Polyustrovo neighborhood, Kalinin District. The Belarusian District concepts will be developed by the architectural offices from Minsk, and those of the St. Petersburg District in Minsk by architects from St. Petersburg.

“We will sum up the results in the autumn. The architects have already inspected the sites. We would like to see the best urban planning ideas. St. Petersburg is also interested in the Belarusian experience,” Pavel Luchinovich said.
