Minsk National Airport to host counter-terrorism exercise

MINSK, 20 June (BelTA) – Minsk National Airport will host a counter-terrorism exercise on 20 June, BelTA learned from Belarus' State Security Committee (KGB).

“Within the framework of the International Civil Aviation Organization's tests to check the level of preparedness of the state agencies to promptly address potential terrorism-related threats to aircraft and air transport infrastructure, the State Security Committee of Belarus will hold a special tactical exercise at Minsk National Airport on 20 June to practice strategies to prevent acts of unlawful interference with civil aviation,” the KGB said.

The exercise will bring together representatives of the government agencies of Minsk and Minsk Oblast, the KGB, the Interior Ministry, the State Border Committee, the Emergencies Ministry, the Armed Forces, the Investigative Committee, the State Forensic Examination Committee, the Ministry of Health, the Transport and Communications Ministry, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minsk National Airport, the Belarusian national air carrier Belavia, and the state-owned enterprise Belaeronavigatsia.
