MINSK, 19 April (BelTA) – The 10th session of the Military Committee of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) chaired by Head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces – First Deputy Defense Minister of Belarus Major-General Oleg Belokonev takes place in Minsk on 19 April, BelTA has learned.
The event is attended by heads of general staffs of the armed forces of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan, the first deputy head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan, the head of the CSTO Joint Headquarters.
At the session the sides will analyze the challenges and threats to the military security in the CSTO collective security regions, discuss the organization of air defense and ballistic missile defense, the organization of flights of the CSTO member states' aviation, the formation of auxiliary bodies at the CSTO Council of Defense Ministers in charge of the organization of communications, material and technical support, air defense and ballistic missile defense, the training and deployment of the CSTO Collective Aviation Forces, the training of military personnel.
The participants of the session will also discuss the training of air defense personnel for the CSTO member states in association with the Zhukov Air and Space Defense Academy (Tver, Russia) and the Military Academy of Belarus.
After the session the participants are expected to sign a protocol with all decisions and corresponding instructions.
The session of the CSTO Military Committee and its resolutions will help develop the military component of the organization.
