MINSK, 20 March (BelTA) – Maria Magilnaya from Mogilev will represent Belarus at the 15th Junior Song Contest Vitebsk 2017 to be held as part of the 26th International Arts Festival Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk. The final of the national selection for Vitebsk 2017 took place in Minsk on 18 March, BelTA has learned.
The final featured ten young contestants. The jury decided the winner through an open vote. This voting system was used to choose Belarus' entry for the Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk for the first time. The points given by the jury were presented on an electronic display after each child's performance. The contestants sang one Belarusian song and a world-famous hit.
Maria Magilnaya is twelve. She is a winner of several international song contests.
A recorded version of the contest will be broadcast on Belarus 3 on 25 March.
The 26th International Festival of Arts Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk will run from 13 to 17 July (with additional events on 11, 12, 18, and 19 July).
