MINSK, 22 June (BelTA) - Belarus demonstrates attractive constructive predictability and stability to its partners, Ukrainian politician, statesman and public figure Vladimir Litvin said in an interview with Belarus 1 TV channel while commenting on the statement by Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko at the fifth Belarusian People's Congress, BelTA has learned.
“I like the constructive predictability and stability which Belarus shows today. I think the people from the countries where there is certain unpredictability, for example, citizens of Ukraine (including myself) are very perceptive to this climate. Today, predictable, stable and constructive Belarus can serve as moderator for such a dialogue, mutual understanding, reconciliation and compromise in the post-Soviet space, which the country, by the way, is successfully doing by hosting the negotiations to resolve the conflict that is still going on in Ukraine,” Vladimir Litvin said.
He noted that Alexander Lukashenko addressed the theme of security in his speech many times. “Security is a matter of survival. Most commonly the problems in this regard arise from the fact that the scope of the rights and freedoms of an individual does not commensurate with his economic opportunities. It is important that a national leader should have a deep understanding of the needs of people and maintain a constructive dialogue with them. I see it in Belarus. I think that the absence of such a dialogue and understanding was one of the causes of the turmoil and problems in Ukraine,” the politician believes.
Vladimir Litvin stressed that the tasks that Belarus set for the next five years are objective and feasible. “It seems to me that the program is feasible. It is no coincidence that the President said that all figures have been thoroughly calculated. I hope that Belarus will continue to evolve, and this will benefit Ukraine greatly. Stable neighbor means a lot for the development of my country, which is going through difficult times today,” he added.
