LIDA, 27 May (BelTA) – Lithuanian companies show interest in tourism industry projects in Grodno Oblast, BelTA learned from Grodno Oblast Governor Vladimir Kravtsov during the 12th Belarusian-Lithuanian forum in Lida on 27 May.
Negotiations with several companies interested in implementing tourism industry projects in Grodno Oblast took place during the forum on 27 May. In particular, the possibility of a Lithuanian company taking part in the reconstruction of the palace and park complex Svyatsk near the Augustow Canal was discussed. The reconstructed complex is supposed to get a hotel, a restaurant, and a modern spa. “Negotiations will also be held with representatives of the ARVI group of companies to discuss their purchase of a hotel in Grodno,” said the Governor.
“We are interested in welcoming more Lithuanian tourists and see ways of making incoming tourism more attractive. This is why we present a lot of tourism projects during the forum. They may be interesting for Lithuania since we have a lot of common history and interests in addition to the common border and geographical proximity,” explained Vladimir Kravtsov.
Today Grodno Oblast is ready to offer about 60 investment projects to Lithuanian partners. Grodno Oblast is also interested in setting up joint ventures in woodworking industry, agriculture together with Lithuania and in interaction in the course of organization of the Euroregion Neman and the implementation of transboundary cooperation programs. Several Lithuanian companies are interested in working as part of the furniture cluster that will be established in Grodno Oblast on the basis of two major enterprises. There are also reserves in Belarusian-Lithuanian cooperation in manufacturing construction materials, noted Vladimir Kravtsov.
The Governor stressed that Grodno Oblast attaches special importance to tight cooperation with Lithuania since the two regions have been partners for a long time. There are 127 enterprises with Lithuanian capital in Grodno Oblast. Grodno Oblast and administrative units of Lithuania have signed 18 regional agreements. The Governor said he was confident that a lot will be done soon in the course of implementation of these documents.
