Licenses granted to three companies building Belarusian nuclear power plant

MINSK, 3 June (BelTA) – The Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry has issued licenses to three construction and installation companies, which are taking part in the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, BelTA learned from the agency's Licensing, Permits, and Expert Evaluation Organization Office.

The licenses allow performing services that influence safety parameters, including the construction of facilities. The licenses have been granted to OAO Promtechmontazh (Minsk), OOO Trest Rosspetsenergomontazh (Nizhny Novgorod, Russia), and OAO Belelektromontazhnaladka (Minsk).

BelTA reported earlier that on 26 November 2015 the Belarus president signed a decree regulating the licensing of certain kinds of business, including those relating to nuclear energy uses. The document introduced stricter licensing requirements and conditions for economic operators in this line of business. In particular, various operations and the provision of safety-affecting services to operating organizations have to be licensed.
