MINSK, 18 September (BelTA) – The Latvian military confirmed the openness and transparency of Belarus after their inspection of the Zapad 2017 army exercise, head of the information department, spokesman for the main ideology department of the Defense Ministry of Belarus Vladimir Makarov told the media on 17 September, BelTA has learned.
“Following the inspection Latvia confirmed a high level of transparency and wide openness of Belarus,” Vladimir Makarov stressed.
Belarus welcomed a group of Latvian military for an inspection on 13-16 September. The representatives of the Armed Forces of Latvia inspected the military activities on the Borisovsky, Lepelsky and Losvido ranges and also the training area in Dretun (Vitebsk Oblast). “They were provided with full information on the activity of the subdivisions of the North-West operative command, the Belarusian special forces and also the Armed Forces of Russia,” noted Vladimir Makarov. The inspection team was also given an opportunity to see the military hardware and tactical games.
