Kobyakov: MILEX promotes Belarus' international standing

MINSK, 22 May (BelTA) - MILEX promotes the strengthening of Belarus' standing in the international arena, Belarus' Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said at the opening ceremony of the 8th Belarusian defense technology expo MILEX 2017, BelTA has learned.

According to the Belarusian head of government, the forum has earned a high professional status and became an important part of the international military and technical cooperation system. The event always boasts a high level of organization, success and a constantly increasing interest from foreign states.

This year, taking part in MILEX are foreign high-level delegations, armament experts, specialists, and scientists from more than 30 states. The largest ones have come from the Russian Federation and China. Companies from Germany, Slovakia and Poland are taking part in the expo for the first time. “We will do our best to create the most favorable conditions for our traditional and potential partners to get familiar with Belarus' high-technology military and double-purpose potential,” Andrei Kobyakov said during the opening ceremony.

Today, the national defense and industrial complex, which is represented by experienced engineers and highly-qualified specialists, develops modern and in many ways unique specimen of armament, military and special-purpose equipment. “Belarus is showcasing the state-of-the-art mobile armored vehicle Kaiman. Among the most promising products is a sophisticated combat vehicle, which makes part of the air defense system Osa. I believe that this international forum will create unique opportunities for its participants and guests to study the market of armament,” the prime minister noted.

Andrei Kobyakov expressed confidence that MILEX 2017 would make a considerable contribution to the further development of military and technical cooperation with foreign states, the strengthening of business ties and would promote the strengthening of Belarus' international image. Its format makes it possible to open new prospects for building up integration ties, create unique opportunities for its participants and guests to study the market of armament, the head of government stressed.

The Belarusian defense technology expo MILEX 2017 opened in Minsk on 20 May. It has featured almost 140 exhibitors from Belarus, Germany, China, Kazakhstan, Russia, Slovakia, and Ukraine. Over 350 specimen of armament and military equipment are on display by 11 Russian companies. China is taking part in the expo for the second time.

For Belarusian defense companies, MILEX is a great opportunity to implement promising projects and enter a new technological level. Products of almost 80 Belarusian companies and educational institutions are on display. Sci-tech projects have been showcased by organizations and educational institutions of the Defense Ministry, the State Border Committee, the Emergencies Ministry, and also the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
