Key stage of Belarusian nuclear power plant personnel training over

MINSK, 30 October (BelTA) – Specialists of the Russian company Atomtechenergo have finished another stage in training operators of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, representatives of Atomtechenergo's Information Policy and Public Relations Service told BelTA.

The personnel have been trained to operate the reactors and the turbines using equipment, which simulates a power-generating unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. The students included chief engineers in charge of managing the turbine and the reactor, unit shift masters, reactor shop shift masters, turbine shop shift masters, and nuclear power plant division masters. The first group of students (six people) had to take an intermediate exam at the end of the training session.

Atomtechenergo specialists tested the ability of students to operate nuclear power plant equipment in normal mode and in an emergency.

The students and observers sent by the Belarusian nuclear power plant highly appreciated the volume and quality of educational information. They also praised professional skills of Atomtechenergo instructors.

Atomtechenergo has been training personnel for the Belarusian nuclear power plant since 2014 as part of the contract signed with Atomstroyexport, the Russian company in charge of exporting nuclear energy industry services. Atomtechenergo is supposed to train 600 specialists for the Belarusian nuclear power plant in addition to supplying all the necessary documents, computer systems for equipping the training center, and training the Belarusian nuclear power plant personnel in the period of the power plant's operation. Over 330 specialists have been trained since 2014. They practiced their skills in the Novovoronezh education and training center of Atomtechenergo and in the Belarusian education and training center. Over 170 specialists have finished their internship at the Novovoronezh nuclear power plant. Some 185 specialists will start their internship soon. As many as 89 specialists will have to sit their final exams by late November. If they pass, they will be fully ready to operate the Belarusian nuclear power plant.

Atomtechenergo was the agency to design and equip the education and training center of the Belarusian nuclear power plant with instructional media. This is why the education and training center meets the high professional training requirements.

Earlier Atomtechenergo finished training operators for the Tianwan nuclear power plant (China), the Kudankulam nuclear power plant (India), and the Bushehr nuclear power plant (Iran). Their education and training centers have been fitted with documents and instructional media developed by the Russian company.
