Justice ministries of Belarus, Spain sign memorandum of understanding

MINSK, 29 May (BelTA) – The justice ministries of Belarus and Spain signed a memorandum of understanding, the Belarusian Embassy in Spain told BelTA following the visit of Belarus' Justice Minister Oleg Slizhevsky to Madrid.

The ministries will share expertise, get familiar with new trends and relevant developments in the field of justice, including through the organization of workshops, seminars and training courses for experts of the two countries.

According to Justice Minister Oleg Slizhevsky, the signing of the memorandum is the first step towards the development of a comprehensive legal framework for bilateral cooperation in legal matters. This document has become the first treaty that establishes a framework for inter-agency cooperation in the field of justice with one of the countries of the European Union.

Ambassador of Belarus to France and concurrently to Spain Pavel Latushko underlined that the memorandum will contribute to the further development of cooperation between Belarus and Spain. He noted that in 2017-2018 the countries signed agreements in economy and industry, tourism, avoidance of double taxation, cooperation between the ministries of foreign affairs, and others.

The parties discussed concrete forms of implementing the memorandum and areas of cooperation that are of interest to the parties.

Ambassador Pavel Latushko also drew attention to the growing momentum in Belarus-Spain cooperation in recent years.
