Investigation Committees of Belarus, Russia, Armenia sign joint statement

MINSK, 9 September (BelTA) - The Chairmen of the Investigation committees of Belarus, Russia and Armenia signed a joint statement on the need to enhance interagency interaction following the trilateral meeting on 9 September, BelTA has learned.

“The Investigation Committees of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation are determined to intensify joint action to improve the efficiency of execution of requests for mutual legal assistance in criminal matters,” the statement reads. The parties intend to step up the joint measures to combat crime, improve the quality and efficiency of investigation of criminal cases.

The parties support the initiative to establish a body of interagency cooperation, namely the CIS Council of Heads of the Investigation Committees (other pre-trial investigation authorities). It is believed that the establishment of such a body will serve the interests of the states parties, will make a significant contribution to the fight against crime.

The participants to the meeting also reaffirmed the necessity of holding regular joint conferences, seminars and making use of other forms of cooperation in the field of education and training, and sharing the best practices.
