International Big Data conference in Minsk on 16-19 June

MINSK, 12 June (BelTA) – An international science and practice conference Big Data 2015 will take place in Minsk on 16-19 June, the press service of the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics told BelTA.

The forum will take place in Belarus for the first time. Belarusian Education Minister Mikhail Zhuravkov, Information Technologies and Communications Minister Sergei Popkov, Charge d'Affaires ad interim of the USA in Belarus Scott Rauland, Charge d'Affaires ad interim of Belarus in the USA Pavel Shidlovsky, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming have been invited to attend the opening ceremony that will take place in the National Library of Belarus.

Taking part in the conference will be researchers, representatives of government agencies and internationally recognized IT companies from Belarus, Russia, the USA, the UK, India, China, and Netherlands. Specialists of foreign IT companies are expected to host master classes. For instance, a representative of the Chicago-based company BEZNext will demonstrate real-time data analysis strategies and software solutions.

Big Data technologies stand for a number of approaches used to handle massive amounts of data. Social networks, mobile devices, business information, scientific research are some of the sources that generate a lot of data. Big Data technologies are used in private business, marketing, telecommunications, web analysis, healthcare, state administration, and education.

The Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics trains specialists able to work with Big Data. Since 2013 the university has been in partnership with BEZNext Company to train specialists in Big Data and predictive analysis. The education content is constantly tuned as new solutions emerge on the Big Data market. The university also analyzes information about graduates. For instance, social networks are used to collect data about formers students of the university's computer systems and networks department. The approach helps the university administration to learn what professions are in demand and what companies employ the graduates. The data is expected to help improve the university's educational process.

The international science and practice conference Big Data 2015 has been organized by the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR), BEZNext, IBM (New York, USA), the United Informatics Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Middlesex University (London, UK), DHTechnologies and Data Nubes (Austin, USA), and the Belarusian companies EPAM Systems, Itransition, Bel Huawei Technologies, and Wargaming.
