Innovative solution for extracting hydrocarbons from underground workings developed in Belarus

MINSK, 11 January (BelTA) – The Belarusian company SZAO Novinka has started making an innovative product — high-tech equipment designed to extract hydrocarbon resources from underground workings of oil wells, the press service of the State Science and Technology Committee told BelTA.

Shafts are drilled and repaired at least 1km below the surface using bottomhole motors or rotary systems. A prototype has already been tested by the Belarusian potash extracting company Belaruskali. SZAO Novinka is now working to batch produce the high-tech equipment.

Chairman of the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus Alexander Shumilin visited the company recently. During the visit he presented information about the implementation of the most important projects stipulated by the 2016-2020 national innovation development program. SZAO Novinka created the innovative piece of equipment in line with the program. Alexander Shumilin also spoke about the main directions of the country's scientific, technological, and innovative policy.

SZAO Novinka was established in 1990 in order to develop and introduce energy-saving technologies in Belarus. The company is part of FID Group, which comprises Belarusian and Russian companies intent on designing and making innovative equipment for more effective extraction of hydrocarbon resources.
