Indonesia keen to bolster ties with Belarus in power engineering, material science

MINSK, 31 May (BelTA) - Indonesia is keen to expand cooperation with Belarus in power engineering and material science, Chairman of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences Iskandar Zulkarnain said during a meeting with Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB).

“The Indonesian side is interested in expanding cooperation in all areas of mutual interest. First and foremost these include botany, power engineering, bio- and agricultural technology, materials science. Specific projects of cooperation between scientists of the two countries will be discussed in detail during the Belarusian-Indonesian seminar on technological and innovation cooperation, which will be held at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus on 1 June,” Dr Iskandar Zulkarnain said.

Vladimir Gusakov stressed that Belarus and Indonesia should step up scientific and technical collaboration. “We have developed good relations with a number of scientific organizations of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences. In December 2013 a program of cooperation was signed between the Indonesian Institute of Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in science and technology. But not all agreements are implemented fully,” Vladimir Gusakov said and suggested cooperating as part of the projects implemented in the BelBiograd science park.

A delegation of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences headed by Chairman Iskandar Zulkarnain is visiting Belarus from 30 May to 2 June, at the invitation of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Today the guests got familiar with the NASB permanent exhibition “Domestic scientific achievements for manufacturers”, visited the Central Botanical Garden. The delegation is also set to visit the Powder Metallurgy Institute, Belarusian State University, and the Hi-Tech Park.
