Higher living standards to measure performance of new Belarusian government

MINSK, 20 August (BelTA) – Higher living standards will be the main indicator of performance of the renewed Belarusian government, BelTA learned from newly appointed Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Rumas on 18 August.

The prime minister said: “All the guidelines for the five-year term that the government's work and the stable operation of the economy need have been adopted. The renewed government will follow them.”

As he was making personnel decisions, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko drew attention to several matters the renewed government should keep close to heart. Sergei Rumas said: “Discipline comes first and foremost. It is publicly acknowledged that the government officials have been replaced due to problems revealed in Orsha and a number of other issues. The head of state started with these matters – discipline, integrity, and living standards of the nation.”

According to Sergei Rumas, the head of state spoke at length about living standards. Living standards will be the main indicator to measure the performance of the renewed Belarusian government.
