Head of Belarus' Hi-Tech Park meets with top Israeli IT education specialist

MINSK, 22 August (BelTA) – Director of the Hi-Tech Park Vsevolod Yanchevsky met with Eran Lasser, one of the world's most prominent Israeli specialists in the area of IT education, BelTA has learned.

The institute established by Eran Lasser accounts for 70% of the Israeli IT education market. Its education services are unique because they rely on military methods of training IT specialists. The methods have been adjusted for civilians. In the past Eran Lasser occupied various command positions in the cyber reconnaissance division of the Israeli army.

Vsevolod Yanchevsky and Eran Lasser discussed concrete avenues of cooperation including the opening of a special education center in the Hi-Tech Park for the sake of training Belarusian programmers using unique Israeli technologies. The sides also discussed attracting international investments and venture capital into the Belarusian IT industry.

Eran Lasser spoke highly of Belarus' potential in the IT sphere. In particular, he said: “Your president has set an ambitious goal — to create an IT country within a short period of time. The will of the state and enabling conditions conducive to the rapid development of this sector are crucial to reaching this goal. I am impressed by your country and I liked the meeting with Director of the Hi-Tech Park Vsevolod Yanchevsky very much. I am convinced that together we will create one of the world's best IT education centers.”

Israel boasts the world's largest number of startups and the largest volume of venture capital per capita. At present Israel's IT industry comprises over 8,000 companies and over 200,000 professionals while the country's population is only 8.5 million people.
