Gusakov: Ongoing dialogue between science and civil society in Belarus

MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) – There is an ongoing dialogue between science and civil society in Belarus, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) Vladimir Gusakov said during the opening ceremony of the academic and practical seminar “Philosophical, social and political basics of public associations in Belarus” held by the Belaya Rus public association in the NASB, BelTA has learned.

“This is not the first time the NASB and Belaya Rus co-organize a joint academic and practical event. Holding discussions of the most important social, political, and cultural issues of Belarus' development has already become a good tradition. There is an ongoing dialogue between science and civil society in Belarus. Such seminars serve as a means of direct communication that help us explore a range of theoretical and practical matters of Belarus' development,” Vladimir Gusakov underlined.

Such seminars touch upon an array of various topics and problems, from education of the younger generation and improvement of education to the ways of promoting economic efficiency. “The world does not stand still, and today the younger generation is much more mobile. One can get lost easily in the infinite information flows and fall into an ideological trap. This is why solid experience is required to make out what is right and what is wrong. Public associations should help young Belarusians adapt to the new world, preserve and enrich the integral ideology that serves as a basis for the modern Belarus,” Vladimir Gusakov noted.

He pointed out that the seminar is designed to become a platform to work out positive scenarios for Belarus' civil society. “This is also a place that should help come up with responses to the biggest global challenges. I hope that this seminar will become another key event in the process of improvement and establishment of Belarus' new civil society,” Vladimir Gusakov remarked.

The academic and practical seminar “Philosophical, social and political basics of public associations in Belarus” gathered leading Belarusian scientists, representatives of the civil society and mass media.
