Grodno Oblast to open two hotels, three hostels in 2019

MINSK, 27 March (BelTA) – Two hotels and three hostels will open in Grodno Oblast in 2019, Belarusian Deputy Sports and Tourism Minister Mikhail Portnoi told reporters on 27 March.

In 2018 Grodno Oblast inaugurated four accommodation facilities, as well as 24 cafes and restaurants that can seat about 1,000 people. “Another five accommodation facilities (two hotels and three hostels) will be launched in 2019. One of the city's biggest hotels is undergoing renovation. It is set to be commissioned in 2020,” Mikhail Portnoi informed.

He noted that tourists from the neighboring countries would like to have an opportunity to enter Belarus visa-free not only through the Minsk National Airport, but also by road. Therefore, the establishment of visa-free zones in the territory of Brest Oblast and Grodno Oblast was highly instrumental in promoting inbound tourism. For example, Grodno and the Augustow Canal posted an 87.7% increase in tourist arrivals in 2018.
