Grodno hosts Youth Entrepreneurship competition

GOMEL, 18 May (BelTA) – The 9th International Competition Youth Entrepreneurship is held at Gomel Trade and Economic University of Consumer Cooperation on 18 May. The event gathered Belarusian, Russian, Ukrainian and Kazakhstani students, BelTA has learned.

This year the tournament features 20 teams that comprise nearly 120 participants. The students will present educational, social or business projects designed to resolve social and/or economic issues.

According to the tournament's organizer, Deputy Chairman of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee Andrei Konyushko, the competition is designed to help students develop leadership, teamwork and communication skills and also provides them with a practical opportunity to study the principles of market economy and entrepreneurship. “It is good that the initiative established nine years ago has been a success. The competition is expanding gradually, which proves that the idea to gather young ambitious students in Gomel was right,” Andrei Konyushko noted.

The panel of jury comprises heads of private and state-run companies, management and marketing specialists, representatives of public organizations and governmental institutions. The projects will be presented in three leagues, each league producing one winner. The jury will pick separate projects in seven nominations (Best IT Project, Best Innovative Project, Business Activity and Initiative, Public Esteem, Best Educational Project, Best Business Project, and Best Team). The winners and participants will be awarded memorable gifts provided by the partners of the event.

Youth Entrepreneurship is an international program that invites student teams to present interesting projects in various fields, attract investors' and public attention to their ideas, and build a good reputation among potential employers. The event is held as part of the Gomel Economic Forum and programs to support small and medium-sized business in Belarus and Grodno Oblast.
