Gomel hosts photo exhibition dedicated to Shanghai Pudong Area

GOMEL, 18 September (BelTA) – The Pudong Today photo exhibition opened at the Vashchenko Art Gallery in Gomel on 18 September, BelTA has learned from the art gallery.

The exhibition features 60 photos that reflect diversity and dynamic development of Pudong New Area of Shanghai, China. “The photo exhibition shows spectacular views of modern Pudong and its vibrant life, hard-working people, architectural achievements, and rich cultural traditions,” the gallery noted. The photos have been provided by the Pudong photographers union.

The photo exhibition celebrates the 40th anniversary of the policy of reforms and opening up in China, and the area's 35th anniversary of opening. The Pudong Today photo exhibition already took place in Minsk and Moscow.

The State Council of the People's Republic of China issued a resolution to start the Pudong district development and opening up program in April 1990. Since then the district has been growing rapidly and has turned into the symbol of Shanghai modern development. The district area is 1,210 km2, and the population is 5.5 million. The district consists of 12 residential areas, 24 villages, a free trade zone, and four development zones of national importance.

The organizer of the exhibition is the China cultural center in Minsk. The Pudong Today photo exhibition in Gomel will stay open till 13 October.
