General construction work on main structures of Belarusian nuclear power plant nearly over

MINSK, 13 September (BelTA) – General construction work on the main structures of the Belarusian nuclear power plant is nearly over, the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry told BelTA.

Work continues on all the buildings and structures of the first and second units of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. General construction work on the main buildings and facilities is nearing completion. The installation of thermal technology and electric technology equipment is in full swing.

The installation of the core equipment of the reactor department and the turbine department of the first power-generating unit is nearly finished. The reactor pressure vessel of the second unit has been installed as well as the main equipment of the reactor system. Process pipelines are being installed. The installation of turbine systems has begun.

As many as 34 subcontractors are involved in the project to build Belarusian nuclear power plant facilities, including 22 Belarusian and 12 Russian companies.

The Energy Ministry also summed up results achieved by the enterprises accountable to the ministry in H1 2018. Electricity generation (without customer's plants) increased by 11.3% to 17.3 billion kWh. Electricity consumption totaled 18.7 billion kWh, 102.1% as against January-June 2017. Energy companies sold 19.7 GCal of heat energy, 100.4% as against the same period of last year.

Gas distribution companies delivered 10.1 billion m3 of natural gas to customers in Belarus, 104.2% as against the same period of last year. As much as 30,600 tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas was sold, 91.3% as against the same period of last year.
