French inspection team to check Belarusian army units

MINSK, 17 March (BelTA) – An inspection team from France will stay in Belarus on 20-24 March to choose and examine a unit of the Belarusian army in line with the Conventional Forces in Europe Treaty. The inspectors will also visit the 336th Rocket Artillery Brigade within the framework of the 2011 Vienna Document, representatives of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

The French inspectors will make sure that the number of armaments and military hardware on site matches the numbers Belarus has revealed in accordance with the Conventional Weapons in Europe Treaty.

During the visit the inspectors will evaluate the information Belarus has sent to the OSCE member states within the framework of the 2011 Vienna Document to inform them about personnel numbers, main weapon systems and military hardware in the chosen army unit.

The inspection team will include seven inspectors from France, one from Belgium, and another one from the UK.
