Free Belarusian visas for foreign participants of caravan and camping festival

MINSK, 3 May (BelTA) – Participants of the international caravan and camping festival in Belarus will be issued free visas, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Sport and Tourism Ministry.

The international caravan and camping festival will be held on the shore of Lake Selyava in Krupki District, Minsk Oblast, on 7-10 May. The event is expected to bring together more than 200 caravaneers from 10 countries: Belarus, Denmark, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Russia, Ukraine and Estonia.

“This is the first time Belarus will host such a representative caravan and camping festival. Due to the high interest in the event and in Belarus the head of state took a decision to exempt the foreign participants from visa consular fees,” the press service noted.

Caravaneers are expected to arrive on 7 May. They will be treated to an extensive entertaining program. The festival will officially open on 8 May.

Earlier, Sport and Tourism Minister Alexander Shamko confirmed that Belarus was considering using free visas for participants of tourist festivals. According to him, a calendar of tourist events will be approved, and anyone who wants to attend an event from the list will be able to obtain a visa in their home country or in the Belarusian airport without paying consular fees once they buy a ticket to the event and book a hotel.

The state program “Hospitable Belarus” for 2016-2020 names caravanning as one of the priority forms of tourism, taking into account the country's transit opportunities. In early April Russia's tourist agency Rostourism announced its plans to participate in the development of appropriate infrastructure in Belarus.
