Expert: Young people can help revitalize Belarusian-German partnership of cities

NESVIZH, 27 June (BelTA) - Belarusian-German partnership of cities should be intensified at the level of youth exchanges, Executive Director of the West-East Meetings Foundation Monika Tharann said during the ninth meeting of twin towns held in Nesvizh on 24-25 June, BelTA has learned.

Monika Tharann believes that the effect of the Belarusian-German cooperation will be even more significant if more young people are involved in this movement. The panel discussion during the meeting of twin towns was dedicated to the theme of youth. Participants visited Nesvizh Youth Center, Local History Museum, got familiar with the infrastructure, cultural and sports facilities of the town.

The German guests noted that the town has the necessary conditions for diverse youth development, and said that they were willing to adopt some of the Belarusian experience. In addition, they believe that the rich history of the region embodied in the architectural monuments helps promote patriotic upbringing of the younger generation.

Monika Tharann is convinced that it is the younger generation who will drive forward the Belarusian-German partnership in the future. This is why young people are increasingly involved in the preparation of meetings of twin cities.

Along with the youth and socio-cultural topics the meeting participants discussed the development of economic and investment cooperation between Belarus and Germany.

The ninth meeting of twin towns was held in Nesvizh on 24-25 June. Its theme was Belarusian-German Partnership of Towns – Bridges Into the Future.
