EU to allocate €1m to fund upgrading of Bruzgi, Berestovitsa checkpoints

MINSK, 14 August (BelTA) – The European Union will allocate about €1 million for the upgrading of the border checkpoints Bruzgi and Berestovitsa. The grant contract on the international technical aid project was signed by the Grodno Oblast Customs and the European Union, BelTA learned from the State Customs Committee of Belarus.

The project will be implemented in cooperation with Podlasie Province of Poland under the cross-border cooperation program Poland-Belarus-Ukraine for 2014-2020. The EU's contribution to the project will make up nearly €1 million.

The project envisages complete modernization of the local computer networks at the road-transport checkpoints Bruzgi and Berestovitsa, including the replacement of head-end equipment and office appliances. “This will help strengthen security on the Belarusian-Polish border, reduce time spent on the customs control and improve the efficiency of customs procedures,” the State Customs Committee said.
