MINSK, 20 June (BelTA) – Cell towers in the Dinamo Stadium in Minsk have been prepared to handle an extreme mobile communication workload ahead of the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019, the press service of the Belarusian mobile carrier velcom told BelTA.
Major sport events are expected to generate considerable amounts of mobile data traffic and put extreme loads on the cell grid. The number of people the Dinamo Stadium is expected to seat simultaneously will be comparable to the population of such towns as Pruzhany and Maryina Gorka. As many as 32 special stadium antennas have been deployed under the roof of the stadium and over 260 additional antennas have been installed inside indoor premises. The system offers UMTS and GSM communication standards. The equipment is also LTE-enabled and can offer 4G communication to users.
A fiber optic communication ring has been built at the stadium and two independent channels to the city cell grid have been arranged in case of unforeseen circumstances.
The renovated Dinamo Stadium will be the central venue for the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019. The stadium can seat over 22,000 spectators.
