Delegations from five countries to attend Baranovichi City Day celebrations

BREST, 18 May (BelTA) – Baranovichi will celebrate the City Day on 19-20 May, BelTA learned from the ideology, culture and youth affairs of the Baranovichi City Hall.

This year, the second largest city of Brest Oblast celebrates its 147th anniversary. The celebrations will be attended by delegations from the sister cities: Polish Gdynia, Ukrainian Novovolynsk, Latvia's Jelgava and Lithuanian Siauliai. On 19 May Baranovichi is set to sign a partnership agreement with Russia's Magadan. The parties intend to develop cooperation in economy, trade, education, culture, tourism and other areas.

Baranovichi Mayor Yuri Gromakovsky will tell the foreign visitors about the development trends in the region and will discuss the prospects for further cooperation with the sister cities. The delegations will visit OAO Torgmash, Baranovichi Cotton Production Amalgamation, Baranovichi Plant of Machine Appliances, OOO Dipriz, and the Chaborok health resort.

The celebrations will be held at ten venues across the city. The central Lenin Square will host a ceremony to honor the winners of the Man of the Year honorary title in recognition of the great contribution to the social and economic development of the city in 2017. Yuri Gromakovsky will present the awards to 11 representatives of industry, construction, trade, education, health, social security and culture.
