Customs services of Belarus, Georgia ready to develop partnerships

MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) – Heads of the Belarusian Customs Service and the Revenue Service of the Georgian Ministry of Finance signed a memorandum of cooperation against customs offences in the movement of goods by air and a memorandum of cooperation in personnel training, BelTA learned from the press service of the State Customs Committee.

The first document envisages the possibility of an information exchange between the authorized subdivisions of the customs services of Belarus and Georgia on the persons who, according to the data the two parties have, are violating or have violated the law related to the illegal movement of goods by air and also the goods from the limited list illegally moved by air transport.

The second memorandum outlines fundamental areas of cooperation between the customs services of the two countries in part of retraining and enhancing the qualifications of the customs personnel.

The bilateral meeting also focused on the possible development of a system to promote mutual trade, exchange experience in the use of the system of risk management in customs operations.

“The meeting aimed at developing and strengthening partner relations between the customs services of Belarus and Georgia was held in a friendly and businesslike atmosphere,” the State Customs Committee noted.
