CSTO to discuss drug control in Yerevan

MOSCOW, 23 May (BelTA) – A coordination meeting of the drug control authorities of the Member States of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will be attended by CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha. The meeting is due in Yerevan on 27-28 May, BelTA learned from CSTO spokesman Vladimir Zainetdinov.

The meeting will discuss the situation related to the non-medical use of drugs in the CSTO Member States and the situation with drugs, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of drug addicts, including abusers of new psychoactive substances. The meeting will review the status of interaction and the organization of cooperation between the drug control authorities and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime. “The participants to the meeting will exchange the best practices in the field of drug abuse prevention, and consider the progress made by the working group of the heads of the CSTO drug control to promote the inter-agency collaboration in the field of prevention of non-medical use of drugs,” the spokesman said.

The meeting participants are scheduled to visit the Armenian National Drug Rehabilitation Center.

The coordination meeting of the drug control authorities of the Member States of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) was created by the decision of the CSTO Committee of Secretaries of the Security Councils in 2013.
