MINSK, 13 October (BelTA) – The final stage of the Collective Security Treaty Organization exercise Vzaimodeistviye 2017 (interaction 2017) took place in the Bagramyan exercise area in Armenia, BelTA has learned. The exercise involved contingents of the CSTO collective rapid response forces and some of the units of the Russian-Armenian joint military force.
The Vzaimodeistviye 2017 military exercise represented the final stage in efforts to resolve the military conflict simulated as part of the strategic exercise Boyevoye Bratstvo 2017 (combat brotherhood). The main purpose of the exercise was to work out ways to make joint plans and deploy the CSTO collective rapid response forces and the Russian-Armenian joint military force under the general supervision of the Joint Strategic Command of the Southern Military District of the Russian army. Improving the CSTO collective forces command system was one of the most important goals of this stage.
In the course of the exercise military units and special operations units of the CSTO collective rapid response forces and the Russian-Armenian joint military force worked out common approaches to protecting the state border, blocking and destroying the enemy's sabotage and reconnaissance groups as well as illegal armed groups, to freeing hostages and destroying militant camps. The CSTO collective forces practiced combat warfare against illegal armed groups.
Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross took part in practical actions in the course of the exercise. Ambassadors of CSTO member states, foreign military attaches in Armenia, representatives of international and regional organizations, mass media observed the exercise.
Over 2,500 personnel from all the CSTO member states were involved in the exercise as well as about 500 weapon systems and vehicles, including 25 flying vehicles.
The next stage of the strategic exercise Boyevoye Bratstvo 2017 (combat brotherhood) will take place in Kazakhstan to practice resolving a post-conflict situation through a peacemaking operation.
