Cosmonaut Oleg Novitsky attends Belarus' exhibition at WFYS 2017 in Sochi

SOCHI, 19 October (BelTA) – Pilot-cosmonaut, Hero of Russia Oleg Novitsky visited the Belarusian exhibition at the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students (WFYS) in Sochi on 19 October, BelTA has learned.

Oleg Novitsky had a chat with young people and left a note in the book of good wishes for Belarusian athletes to take part in the 2019 European Games. The cosmonaut wished them a successful performance at the competitions.

A native of the town of Cherven, Minsk Oblast, Oleg Novitsky told BelTA that he does not miss out on an opportunity to talk with his compatriots. The cosmonaut said he was impressed with the Belarusian exhibition at the WFYS.

Belarus is participating in YOUTH EXPO which opened at one of WFYS venues. Belarus' exhibition showcases the country's achievements in various areas, from industry to sport to tourism. It also portrays the prospects of the Belarusian education system and major youth movements: pioneers, student teams, and volunteers. Projects of the 100 Ideas for Belarus contest are on display, too.

The 2017 World Festival of Youth and Students is due to run through 22 October. It has brought together over 20,000 people from 180 countries. The festival is meant to consolidate young people of the world, encourage interethnic and intercultural cooperation.
