Construction operations at Belarusian nuclear power plant site in full swing

MINSK, 31 August (BelTA) – In H1 2016 construction operations were performed at 111 facilities of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry told BelTA.

Work continued to build facilities of the nuclear power plant and the housing infrastructure. In line with the general contract on building the Belarusian nuclear power plant work was done to build 73 primary buildings and structures of the first and second power-generating unit as well as 38 facilities of general importance for the power plant. As many as five houses with the total area of 17,800m2 were commissioned in the second residential area in Ostrovets. The construction of another seven houses and other facilities continued.

Apart from that, a cogeneration plant that burns local fuel was commissioned in Luninets. The reconstruction of the Orsha cogeneration plant was completed. The 110kV electrical substation Staroborisovskaya with 110kV power lines was built in Minsk. A wind farm was commissioned in Grabniki, Novogrudok District. A number of other facilities were commissioned as well.

The construction of a combined-cycle gas turbine continues at the first Mogilev cogeneration plant as well as the reconstruction of the first Gomel cogeneration plant. The construction of the Polotsk hydropower plant and the Vitebsk hydropower plant on the Zapadnaya Dvina River continues. Work is in progress to build the installations that will connect the Belarusian nuclear power plant to the national power grid and let the nuclear power plant feed its power to the power grid.
