MINSK, 19 December (BelTA) – Tax authorities will step up oversight over illegal taxi drivers ahead of the 2nd European Games, which are scheduled to take place in Minsk on 21-30 June 2019, BelTA learned from Belarusian Deputy Tax and Duties Minister Vladimir Mukvich.
“As for oversight in the run-up to the European Games, I can say we will definitely step up oversight over illegal taxi drivers. Work with bona fide taxpayers will focus primarily on explanations and preventive measures,” said the deputy tax and duties minister.
Vladimir Mukvich reminded that the Belarusian tax service no longer resorts to audits on a mass scale. Individual violators are punished instead.
As far as the cost of taxi service during the competitions is concerned, the official reminded that major taxi companies have agreed to stick to fair prices. Speaking about cases when clients were faced with exorbitant prices, the official reminded that passengers must be informed about tariffs in advance. Taxi drivers are legally required to do it. Telling passengers how much a specific trip costs is another matter though.
