BREST, 13 March (BelTA) – A month-long campaign to beautify and tidy up the city has started in Brest, BelTA learned from the Brest City Hall.
The campaign will last till 28 April. A special focus will be put on cleaning up streets and communities, gardens and parks, and places of public entertainment near the water. The event will traditionally bring together representatives of commercial entities, workers of companies and organizations, school and university students. They are set to collect rubbish and waste, repair and paint fences, clean up lawns and flowerbeds.
The city authorities have invited the locals to take an active part in the campaign. “What the city looks like today pretty much depends on us. Only by joint efforts can we make Brest even more beautiful and well-kept in the run-up to its 1000th anniversary,” the City Hall said.
Beautification campaigns traditionally take place in spring and autumn.
