CIS defense ministers to meet in Moscow on 26 May

MINSK, 24 May (BelTA) - A meeting of the CIS Council of Defense Ministers will be held in Moscow on 26 May. This information is posted on the website of the CIS Executive Committee.

The agenda includes 19 issues. The CIS defense ministers are set to discuss the cooperation in the preservation and promotion of the historical and cultural heritage in the military field, the cooperation in training and field training, the military aspects of combating international terrorism, and mutual recognition of military ranks in the Commonwealth of Independent States. Cooperation in ensuring the safety of military flights will be on the agenda as well.

The members of the council will discuss a plan of action to implement the concept for the development of the single geographic information system for military purposes, the joint activities of the armed forces of the CIS countries in 2018, the joint life-fire exercises by the joint air defense system of the CIS member states “Combat Commonwealth 2017” and other issues.

The CIS Council of Defense Ministers was founded in 1992. It is composed of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan. Moldova, Turkmenistan and Ukraine take an active part in the work of the council. The council coordinates military cooperation, develops the conceptual approaches to the military policy and the proposals to prevent armed conflicts.
