YICHANG, 18 May (BelTA) – The Chinese city of Yichang of Hubei Province will boslter economic links with Baranovichi, Deputy Mayor of the People's Government of Yichang Zhou Zhengying said as he met with the Belarusian delegation headed by Brest Oblast Vice Governor Andrei Klets, BelTA has learned.
Yichang and Baranovichi have established sister-city contacts six years ago. Zhou Zhengying visited Baranovichi and Minsk last year. “I really liked the Belarusian cities. They are beautiful and clean,” she noted.
The vice mayor also noted that she really like the Belarusian milk which is of high quality. The milk is delivered to Hubei Province and sold in the administrative center. It has yet to find its way to Yichang. The city government expects that the Belarusians will step up efforts to promote their products in Yichang given the fact that Wuhan and Brest are linked by the railway service. “We will be happy if the Belarusian partners take the advantage of the trains going back from Europe to Wuhan via Brest to deliver their products to Yichang,” Zhou Chzhjenin said.
For his, Andrei Klets Andrey expressed interest in strengthening economic contacts with Hubei Province in general and the city of Yichang in particular. He is convinced that the Belt and Road concept will help the parties achieve significant results. “We attach great importance to cooperation with China as part of the new Silk Road,” the vice governor said.
