Central districts of Minsk, St. Petersburg sign agreement on cooperation

MINSK, 22 May (BelTA) – The administrations of the central districts of Minsk and St. Petersburg signed an agreement on trade, economic, sci-tech, education, social and cultural cooperation on 20 May, BelTA learned from the administration of the Tsentralny District of the Belarusian capital.

The document was signed by Head of the Administration of the Tsentralny District of Minsk Igor Buzovsky and Head of the Tsentralny District of St. Petersburg Andrei Khlutkov. The agreement aims at promoting the existing social and economic relations between the districts of the two cities and developing new areas of cooperation.

According to Igor Buzovsky, the parties will organize an exchange of legal information as the first step to promote cooperation. The biggest mutual interest is in the activity of public associations and the improvement of the utilities sector.

Belarus is well aware of St. Petersburg's wide experience in involving the public in the activity of the district administration.

In turn, the administration of the Tsentralny District of St. Petersburg expressed an interest in studying Belarus' best practices and the legal framework of the executive bodies. These issues are of particular relevance as the northern capital of Russia is currently busy with developing the optimal forms of activity for the utilities sector and the executive bodies in general.

The parties agreed to boost cooperation through joint sessions, business meetings, conferences, business forums, and roundtables.
