Brest Oblast tourism industry to be presented at TT Warsaw travel fair

BREST, 14 November (BelTA) – Brest Oblast will tout its tourism market at the International Travel Show TT Warsaw 2018 that will take place in the Polish capital on 22-24 November, BelTA learned from head of the tourism section of the sport and tourism department of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee Denis Nikityuk.

The delegation of Brest Oblast will include representatives of the regional tourism authority, Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park, health resorts Nadzeya (Zhabinka District) and Ruzhansky (Pruzhany District), Hermitage Hotel, a dozen travel agencies. They will present their services at a special pavilion.

“The focus will be made on new programs of visiting visa-free areas in 2019, Brest millennium celebrations and tourist infrastructure of the city. The delegation is set to take part in a series of meetings in the B2B format to forge new contacts with foreign partners. Seminars to promote tourist products will also be of use,” Denis Nikityuk said.

Brest Oblast is experiencing a travel boom fueled by the visa waiver. Indeed, since the start of the year, the Brest visa-free area was visited by over 15,000 visa-free tourists from more than 70 countries. The bulk of tourists came from Poland, Germany, Czechia, Lithuania and Latvia. The average stay in the visa-free area is four days.

“Inbound tourism is on the rise. For example, in October the visa-free area welcomed over 2,000 people, up 1.5 times over Q1. We expect the Brest millennium celebrations to become another draw for tourists,” Denis Nikityuk said. At the beginning of 2019 cooperation agreements in tourism and hospitality are to be signed between Brest Oblast and Podlasie Province of Poland. The parties will discuss a possibility to set up a transboundary regional tourism promotion center with offices in Brest and Bialystok.
