MINSK, 25 May (BelTA) – The procedure for issuing and extending the duration of special permits that allow highly qualified foreign specialists to work in Belarus has been amended, the press service of the Belarus government told BelTA.
The measure is laid down by the Council of Ministers' executive order No. 406 of 23 May 2016. The document was adopted in line with the law passed on 5 January 2015 to amend and expand the law on external labor migration. In particular, the law introduced the term “highly qualified worker” and specified requirements for such specialists.
In line with the executive order special job permits will be granted to foreign highly qualified workers for a period of two years. The duration of the permits can be extended by two years as well.
Permits will be granted to other foreign labor for a period of one year.
The measures are supposed to improve the government policy in the sphere of external labor migration. The executive order comes into force on 15 July.
